With support from the Mat-Su Borough and the Mat-Su Trails Council, the directional sign posts will be installed this weekend in Crevasse-Moraine along the Long Lake Connector. Help is needed to set eleven posts.

If you can help, come to:

Saturday, Aug 15.

If we can get half a dozen people or so that would make the

work go pretty quickly. Even if you can only come out for a little

Here is a message from those who have been doing the trail work at PHS. Please come and pitch in if you can!

Dear Athletes and All Other Supporters of the Trail,

The trail is looking pretty great! If you have not been out there to see the changes, take the time. There will be some fun races on it this fall! Saturday, July 25, from 9AM to Noon we will need LOTS of rakers and root cutters!!

The new hill has been seeded and got its first mowing yesterday thanks to Ron Mangelsdorf. ...

Hi Everyone,

There are new signs being developed for the Matanuska Greenbelt Trails (MGT-- which includes Crevasse, Kepler-Bradley, UAF, and UA trails). Dot Helm is spearheading the effort and is behind the “BUY A POST” program. She has some preliminary, laminated signs already in place, but she is interested in receiving comments from users on how to make the signs as good as they can be.

You can post comments directly on the MGT webpage: http://www.tinyurl.com/matanuskagreenbelt ...

Crevasse and Kepler trails have recently been marked with painted orange arrows presumably for the upcoming race and cross country running practice. I don't object to painted arrows on the trail itself - we've done this for trail night.
any other dry trail near Palmer. I know it's short notice, but I am planning on running Crevasse Moraine tomorrow (Sunday) around 10 AM. I would love company if anyone wants to join, and I'm flexible on the trail. For instance, if the Lazy Mountain trail is open I could be convinced to do it instead.

Turnagain Arm Trail Run

My husband and I are going to run the Turnagain Arm Trail tomorrow to test out the trail for the race on May 20. We'll have room in our car for 2 or 3 people if anyone wants to come, but we will be stopping by Coscto, REI, and Great Harvest on the way home so if you're on a time crunch, then this might not work for you. I just wanted to post this so that the most number of people could potentially get there on the least amount of gasoline!

parking passes

While we're all waiting for the trails to dry up, now is a good time to get your parking passes for Borough and State trailheads. You can get your Borough pass for around $30 at the Borough building in Palmer. Last year the Borough did something very cool and gave residents the option of using the annual dump coupon for a parking pass instead. Considering a dump run is $10 and a pass is $30, this is a great deal if you use the trails a lot. I don't know if they'll do this again this year ...

Gold Mint Trail

Just went for a ride on Gold Mint and the trail is in great shape if anyone is looking for a place to run that isn't pavement or slush. We went in to the 1st beaver pond which I believe is about 2 miles-trail got a little soft, I suspect due to less traffic, after that. Little tough on the bike but should be pretty good for running and definitely for diagonal skiing!
