On her first place finish in the women's 60-64 age class at Lost Lake on Saturday, August 22, on her birthday!

Vera knows how to celebrate in style -- the Lost Lake run on a gorgeous sunny day with a phenomenal finish despite a nasty fall on the downhill stretch.

VWRT had a stellar turnout for the race and congratulations to Mary Barratt also for her age class win -- not just the women's, but overall.

It was a great day, good company and a good cause.

Way to go, ladies! ...

If you can help, come to:

Saturday, Aug 15.

If we can get half a dozen people or so that would make the

Dear Athletes and All Other Supporters of the Trail,

The trail is looking pretty great! If you have not been out there to see the changes, take the time. There will be some fun races on it this fall! Saturday, July 25, from 9AM to Noon we will need LOTS of rakers and root cutters!!

The new hill has been seeded and got its first mowing yesterday thanks to Ron Mangelsdorf. ...

Desiree from Blue Mountains Wellness Studio in Palmer is leading a yoga session tomorrow morning at 10 am on top of the Butte! You can use either trail head. It’s a quick, steep hike. Bring water and yoga mat. There is no cost (unless you park at the trailhead), but you can offer Desiree a tip if you feel it was worth it! If it is lousy weather, the class may be cancelled.

Hi Everyone,

There are new signs being developed for the Matanuska Greenbelt Trails (MGT-- which includes Crevasse, Kepler-Bradley, UAF, and UA trails). Dot Helm is spearheading the effort and is behind the “BUY A POST” program. She has some preliminary, laminated signs already in place, but she is interested in receiving comments from users on how to make the signs as good as they can be.

You can post comments directly on the MGT webpage: http://www.tinyurl.com/matanuskagreenbelt ...

Hi!

I'm relatively new to the Valley, and interested in learning more about the VWRT. I'm just a little nervous about joining the group, as I've just taken up running and find that some days even a mile is a struggle! Is this group open to new members who are excited about learning, but sometimes have to stop & catch their breath? If so, I'd definitely love to come out and meet you all and get some tips and pointers on how to be a better runner....

Happy Spring!
